August bella box unboxed

Bella Box is an Australian Beauty Subscription Box, consisting of various full size and deluxe beauty products for you to try. August’s theme is Glam Squad, with some great essentials for the Winter/Spring cross over period like a hydrating lip gloss, lightweight sunscreen and vitamin c serum.

Floss it Up Lip Gloss

Floss. My New Favorite Lip Gloss
(Full Size – 15g RRP $23.00 available at flossitup.com)

Well I think the name says it all… “My New Favourite” Lip Gloss! This was the opt-in product for the August Bella Box, we got to choose from one of three shades, I opted for JFK – I’m a huge fan of the natural look and this lip gloss fits in with my style perfectly. It has enough colour to still stand out, glides on so smoothly and is very hydrating too. It’s found its way into my purse for everyday use.

Wearing the floss lipgloss I received in my box (along with the Luna by Luna eyeshadow opt-in from July’s box)…. oh and showing off my new short hair do just in time for Springtime fun!

Wet ‘N’ Wild 1 Step Wonder Gel Nail Polish
(Full Size – 7ml RRP $5.99 available at Discount Beauty Boutique and soon to Showpo.com)

I received this in Peri-wink-le, it’s probably the one product that I won’t use out of the box (there was coral as well, which would have been closer to my personal style), so it’s hard for me to actually review this product as I’ve not used it. It’s meant to be fast-drying and seals with a shine without the need of a top coat (so it’d have been great to have received it in a colour I would have used, but I’m sure my teenage niece will LOVE it all the same, she loves experimenting with bold colours).

La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Ultra-Light Fluid SPF50+
(Sample Size 3ml – RRP $29.95 from Adore Beauty, Chemist Warehouse and Priceline).

This sunscreen is light enough to wear under your makeup, invisible and non-greasy too. The sunscreen went on smoothly, absorbing quickly into my skin. I used the normal to combination skin version (having oily skin) and my skin felt moisturised without a tell-tale shine, and no unpleasant odours.

This feels so nice on!

Derma E Vitamin C Serum
(Sample Size 7ml – RRP $34.95 for 60ml available from Priceline and dermae.com.au)

Derma E’s non-oxidizing serum boosts collagen and improves skin’s appearance with a formula of Stay-C 50 vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid. It’s a vegan, natural and cruelty-free formula too. This goes on smoothly, absorbing into the skin, but leaving it feeling hydrated. The scent was subtle and pleasant.

Not just for blondes!

John Frieda Hair Product – Beach Blonde Texturizing Spray
(Sample Size 30ml – RRP $16.99 for 150ml available from Priceline and Chemist Warehouse)

There were 3 products from the John Frieda range of hair products added randomly to August’s Bella Boxes – I received the Beach Blonde Texturizing Spray. Initially I was a little worried… the “beach blonde’ part threw me – I’m brunette! After doing some research on the product, I discovered it’s suitable for all hair colours *phew!!*

The spray enhances your natural waves, and increases grip and texture, creating the beach look ‘ripples’ in your hair. It’s easy to use and style your hair, something I’ll be keeping on hand for those summer days that are just around the corner!

Final Verdict

Another great beauty box, with only one product in it that I won’t use myself (only due to the colour of the nail polish not being one I would use, although I am curious to try out the brand in another shade).

August’s stand out product for me was the Floss lip gloss, followed by the Derma E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum.
