Biome Summer Box 2020

I recently received my second box in the Biome Quarterly Subscription Box, their Summer edition being loaded with some festive and summer loving products.

With Christmas just around the corner, there’s a few products themed around that, along with products that are more fitting Summertime.

Raw Nature Just Bug Off Stick: (RRP $17.95)

Biome Summer Box 2020

Natural bug-repelling essential oils and shea butter to moisturise your skin. Keep your summer free from DEET. Being natural, reapply more often than synthetic repellents. Easy to carry with you, and when finished, compost the paper tube!

Biome Summer Box 2020

This natural bug repellent is vegan, cruelty free, free of aluminum, parabens, SLS and sulfates. I love the zero waste packaging of this product. It has a subtle scent and easy to glide on. This is something that I’ll be packing in my backpack for hiking (great for camping trips or BBQs outside too).

Fair Trade Coconut Bowl and Spoon: (RRP $20,90)

Biome Summer Box 2020

Coconut Bowls are made from coconut shells discarded as waste from the coconut oil industry, and support farmers and craftspeople in Indonesia and Vietnam.

Along with two products from the Coconut Bowls range of products, subscribers were also given a bonus link to download a recipe ebook from Coconut Bowls worth $9.95, bringing the total value to $30.85. The book is loaded full of a variety of vegan recipes from breakfast right through to dessert.

I really like the bowl and spoon. Instagram and Pinterest are full of a ton of luscious meals people have created with these bowls. I love that this is another product/brand that have actively worked to reduce waste within an industry, giving a new lease of life to something that was previously discarded.

EST Olive Oil Soap Ball – Cinnamon Orange Spice: (RRP $9.50)

Biome Summer Box 2020

Made in Melbourne using a traditional process that retains moisturising glycerin and lovingly hand molded. If allowed to dry out between uses, the soap hardens to last for months. Free from synthetic fragrances and palm oil free.

This particular scent was chosen specifically for the Summer box and cinnamon orange spice is certainly a festive scent! It was one of the first scents I noticed when I opened my box and smells delicious. It’s nourishing and moisturising, and I like that I can hand mold it into shape after each use.

Kakadu Plum Co. Plum Powder: (RRP $34.95 – Sample size received)

Biome Summer Box 2020

Native Australian superfood with up to 100 times the Vitamin C of oranges, wild harvested in the Kimberley region by traditional owners. Use it in water, smoothies, tea, bakes, salad and nice-cream.

Unfortunately, I’m not able to test this out (my blood absorbs too much iron and Vitamin C helps to absorb more iron from food sources etc), so I’ve regifted this to a neighbour instead who may be able to consume it.

Kakadu Plum is a pale olive fruit, native to Australia that is considered to be a gift of the Dreamtime by Aboriginal culture. The fruit has been a traditional source of bush tucker for centuries.

Biome Organic Raw Hemp Oil: (RRP $22.95 1ooml – 50ml received)

Biome Summer Box 2020

Highly versatile, hemp oil is nourishing, moisturising and healing for your skin and hair. Use for face masks, face oils, hair serum, scar healing, cracked heels and hands, body scrubs and massages.

Sadly, this had leaked in my box, but thankfully it hadn’t caused any damage towards any of the products inside so I was happy with that. It has a subtle scent and a lovely feel on the skin, leaving my skin feeling soft and supple after using the product. I love that there’s no greasy feeling after using the product, it absorbs quickly into your skin. It makes a great body oil.

Sow ‘n Sow Greetings Card: (RRP $9.95)

Biome Summer Box 2020

A gift Cosmos, Dill and Zinnia seeds for a beautiful summer bouquet. Made by a small creative Australian business with planet-friendly production.

Biome Summer Box 2020

I really love these cards – Christmas is a time for giving, but I love the thought of giving a gift that keeps on giving, and plants are a great way to do this! Sow ‘n Sow have a vast collection of seed greeting cards including wildflowers, natives, herbs, veggies and more, this is one of their festive cards. This would make a cute gift to give to family and friends (I’m keeping mine, though I did consider giving it to my mum, I may still do so yet, but I’d love to have this growing in my garden too lol).

Conclusion:

For only $32.95, this box has great value – whilst I’m not able correctly value the size of the Hemp Oil bottle we received, this box easily has over $70 worth of value inside it.

There’s some really good products inside this season’s box – the Bug stick will go with me on my hiking trips, I’m loving the soap ball and hemp oil, the coconut bowl and spoon is super cute too.

Still deciding whether I keep the seeds for myself or give them away (my garden could definitely use a bit more colour than what a veggie patch provides!)

I’m really happy with this box, looking forward to receiving the next box in Autumn! You can view my review on the Spring Box here.
